About Me

About Us

My name is Courtney.  I have been married to the love of my life for 18 years.

We have 3 kids: Karis- 16, Ethan-14, and Levi-12.

Our life is just the way we want it, and I praise God for all that He has done in my life.

We live at a Christian camp in the Texas hill country where my husband is the Wilderness Director.  The camp is in the middle of nowhere; it can be difficult sometimes, but it is worth it.  We have a community of about 100 people (including 35 kids), and I have some great friends.  We are truly a family.

We love our pup, Loki. He’s the bestest boy.

I’m a tattooed mama and love having art on my arms!

Our family loves the outdoors.  We love to camp, hike, sit around the fire in our “backyard,” be in the high desert, and be in the mountains.  We have lots of hiking trails outside our door where we live and it has been amazing having that opportunity (we live on 1400 acres).  We have a clear river just down the hill.  We don’t take advantage of where we live enough, and we are working on that!

We always have music playing in our house.  This is huge for our family.  This is what we do instead of having the TV on (this is rare).  Some of my favorites are Steffany Gretzinger, Mumford and Sons, Florence and the Machine, Lumineers, Soundtracks (Hamilton!), Drew Holcomb, Elli Holcomb, BirdTalker, The Head and the Heart, We Banjo 3, JOSEPH, The National Parks, 90’s alternative rock, old school Christian (that’s mostly just me haha), Ed Sheeran, Wilder Woods (Bear Rinehart from Needtobreathe), and so many more.  We have branched out a lot these days!  And of course Christmas music is playing from October through December.  Haha.  Don’t judge!

When we are watching TV or movies, you will see Marvel movies/shows of all kinds, Star Wars movies and shows, Stranger Things, The Umbrella Academy, and other greatness.

I am pretty obsessed with southwest patterns, jeans and t-shirts, Birkenstocks, coffee and hot tea, writing and reading, succulents and cacti, the sunrise and sunset, hiking, working out, sitting outside, cooking/baking from scratch, our home, my porch, and so many other things.

I have the BEST job in the world! I teach virtually. It has been a Godsend for me.

Most importantly, I love Jesus.  My relationship with Him has really grown lately and I am leaning into Him and His plan even through hardship.  He has shown me that He uses all things for good and He will finish a good work in me.  He is a good, good Father who gives good gifts.

So.  All of this to say… things you will see on this blog include:

  • Recipes using mostly whole foods ingredients (though not always!)
  • What I’m learning through Bible study/prayer
  • What I’m learning as I get to know myself better
  • Posts about mental health
  • Gratitude posts
  • Grocery Geek posts (pictures of what I bought and how much I spent)
  • Frugal living
  • Meal plans
  • Organization posts
  • Simple living
  • Weekend prep posts
  • Self care posts
  • And more!

  1. I really enjoyed reading “Loving Myself As Is”. I saw myself in the words you wrote. Thank you for sharing.

  2. I’m glad I finally found your Blog. I’ve been looking for it. Hmm maybe that’s something you should think about. Any way, I’m looking forward to reading several of your links. I’m especially looking forward to finally seeing what “THM.”

  3. Hi! Do you still homeschool, too, or have you swapped to something different? I ask because I noticed that in the description on your Facebook page, but I haven’t seen anything about it yet while just browsing your blog. Either way, I’d love to hear about whatever your experience with it has been. 🙂

        1. Thank you! I have finally given control to God because I have tried to make many things work that weren’t from Him (only from my desires). He has brought so much peace lately. It’s wonderful.
